Inaugural 72 Hour Novel(la)

72 hours. One piece of fiction. Many perspectives.
Three Day Novel(la)

72 Hours. Brainstorm, draft and polish one long piece of fiction. Get out all that trapped creative tension. Finish exhausted.

It's pretty simple. You're always coming up with great ideas, but your follow through is terrible. You've got excuses, commitments, things that always seem to swoop in and take precedent. Big deal. We all do. This December 13 through 15, it's time to quit thinking and start writing. 4320 minutes to take that great idea you've been kicking around and get it on paper.

Please realize that while there will be Columbus-area events coinciding with the inaugural 72 Hour Novel(la), just because you won't be "around" doesn't mean you can't still crank out your mini-masterpiece. It doesn't matter where you'll be during these 259,200 seconds - stuck on campus, abroard, home for the holidays, even living in Cincinnati - all you have to do is write.

You may be thinking, "Jeez, 8,000 words in 72 hours is out of the question. I can't even read that much in three days." And if you are, you're being foolish. It's one word ever 32.4 seconds. You probably text 8,000 words in 72 hours.

You may be thinking, "I don't know how to write." That's ridiculous. Just do it.
